Simply, to know Lloyd Dobler is to love him.

Lloyd Dobler: I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.

Lloyd Dobler: [leaving the last of a series of messages on Diane's answering machine] "Maybe I didn't really know you. Maybe you were just a mirage. Maybe the world is full of food and sex and spectacle and we're all just hurling towards an apocalypse, in which case it's not your fault. I'm been thinking about all these things and... you're probably standing there monitoring. And one more thing - about the letter. Nuke it. Flame it. Destroy it. - It hurts me to know it's out there. Later."
    Lloyd is my valentine.

  4. Kick boxing - sport of the future! Alas, Kyle had it right - Lloyd should have used "Shock the Monkey." :)

Kelly, where did you go? What happened to your blog?

  8. I don't think I have ever watched that movie.

Going to add it to my netflix list.

  9. I prefer the language lessons in "Better Off Dead". :-)

  10. Chuck Klosterman has nothing but un-nice things to say about this character. He has some issue of this whole being a prime example of unreal or fake love, which seems very much better than the real thing, but is unattainable because it doesn't really exist.
Of course, what do I know? I haven't seen this movie. The last Cusak movie I saw was Grosspoint Blank.

75: I got out of it for a while and now I've been gone too long no one will go back and look at it. I'm into MySpace now. LOL

  12. Hey Bill: It's one of the few movies I've seen more than once. Somethign about this character hit home with me. I don't see him as obsessive, or feeling that high-school-it-must-be-love thing. I think he was genuine, passionate and sincere.

    Like your's truly! :)

  13. Hey Film Geek. I know that you mentioned this in a post a while ago (the thing about not watching movies more than once that is). So I've been wondering something. You buy dvds right? So, how come? Is it like "The Catcher In The Rye" in the film "Conspiracy Theory"?

  15. LOL. Jedi, my dear friend...I do not buy videos.

I mean, I HAVE purchased some for my kids, and I did buy this movie (Say Anything) for my wife some years ago because we both really love it. But, I don't think I own any other videos. Sorry. Does that make me even stranger?

  16. I thought you bought the deluxe Superman dvd collection. And, yes, it does make you even stranger ... but that's okay. :-)

  17. Oh, forgot the Superman DVD collection. I did get that, but mostly for all the stuff I hadn't seen that's on it. For example, I've played a load of that stuff already, but I haven't watched Superman, Superman 3 or Superman 4. Just all the stuff I hadn't seen.
