The View Just Changed

Extra and AOL Entertainment are reporting that Rosie O'Donnell will replace Meredith Vieira on The View. A formal announcement is expected later today, and Rosie is slated to take her seat in late September.

I catch a lot of grief from my testosterone-charged buddies about how much I enjoy The View. I love the show. Star Jones is fun to hate, Joy Baher is a hoot and that former Survivor chick is cute and perky. But, I had such a crush on Meredith...She is smart and attractive and has great hair. Sigh...

Rosie may be funny, but I'm not excited about the change on The View. Guess I'll have to begin TiVoing Regis.

I wonder if Rosie will turn the view into a pullpit for all things dike-ish.

As you probably would guess, I have no quarrel with her sexuality. She just ain't my favorite...didn't buy the Queen of Nice schtick nor the Martyr schtick when she played them. Sorta took the fun out of the comic for me.

It's not her sexuality I have a problem with, either. Where I have a problem is with her confrontational attitude. She's almost got this whole, "If you don't agree with me....wait, YOU DON'T AGREE WITH ME?!" attitude. There are plenty of people who have that attitude, but she's one of the most annoying in my book.

Meredith Vieira = Well preserved soccer mom. Kinda like a Deborah Linz on the national scale.

Off Route 75...I dont think you can use the term "dike-ish" and then turn around and say "It's not her sexuality I have a problem with..." Give me a break! I like Rosie, just not sure if she can share a hosting gig with 3 or 4 other women.

First off, settle down. I concede I shouldn't have used that term since it made my argument confusing. However, the point is she has recently (over the past two to three years) used a lot of her appearances to flaunt her sexuality...in a "I'm up in your face" attitude. It's not the sexuality I have a problem with, but if she uses "The View" to time and again ram home her sexual proclivites, especially in the hostile, vitreolic manner she has been using of late, then her hosting gig will be short.
