It's been a long time since I last ate at the Chinese buffet place nearby which, I allege, often tries to pass to me very private and personal messages via fortune cookie. But, Mrs. Film Geek asked me to lunch (and she was paying) so we stopped by there.
Now, I'm not as paranoid as I was the day I wrote this. Or even this. But, I can't help but think something is up when my fortune cookie arrives (sans oranges, by the way, which always upsets me) and reads: "As the purse is empty, the heart is filled."
Huh?
How did these geniuses know in advance that my wife would shell out the $17.35, and that I would be thrilled that the cash wasn't coming out of my pocket.
The mystery continues.
By the way, the lucky numbers are: 4, 46, 8, 27, 3 and 17. As always, play responsibly. Void where prohibited.

My husband and I love Chinese. We do not get to go often but when we do we enjoy it. As I open my fortune cookie I almost always stop and ponder a moment....who makes these things, and how does that message get in there. After the deep sigh I open it and it always says something either cheerful or something that could pertain to anyone. I wonder......who comes up with this stuff and why do we feel that our message should pertain just to us.
The Chinese buffet blows. I worked there back in the day when it was owned by a local family in Huntington. They were pretty old school Chinese that left the motherland during the cultural revolution. They also use to refer to me as round-eye, but thats another story.. The old 6 dollar buffet garlic chicken!! Awesome. Now its run by some cookie cutter Chinese mafia as far as I can tell.
Uh oh...Bionic Bigfoot knows the area I work in....
I'm pretty sure the folks running it are psychic. But, that's just me.
I use to get great tips working there on friday nights. Over 30% for serving people drinks at a buffet dinner? It never made sense! Then I realized it was because of the gay bar across the street...
Hey! Don't forget to add "in bed" to the end of those fortunes. Once again it makes sense with this fortune too. So there you go...mystery solved! :-)
I am a believer, geek. My recent fortune from that place was: "You are almost there." How did they know that I'm not all here?
