Film Scenes That Matter: Glengarry Glen Ross

David Mamet's play-turned-flick has a steller cast, and can be a difficult film to watch. The despair and the urgency that's at the core of this film gives Mrs. Film Geek the Danny Gut.

But Alec Baldwin's seven-minute-plus scene is brilliant! And that alone is worth the rental price for Glengarry Glen Ross.

"Coffee's for closers only."

(Be prepared for some profanity.)

Some profanity?! LOL!

Has anybody ever made more out of one scene in a flick than Baldwin does here? Great movie.

It is rather loaded up in typical Mamet style, eh?

What a great movie! And I agree, it may be the most one could get out of an 8 minute scene.

Film Geek, I've been loving the "Film Scenes That Matter" posts. This one is an excellent choice. This whole movie is fantastic.

Ricky Roma is one of my favorite Pacino characters..."When you die you're going to regret the things you don't do. You think you're queer? I'm going to tell you something: we're all queer. You think you're a thief? So what? You get befuddled by a middle-class morality? Get shut of it. Shut it out. You cheat on your wife? You did it, live with it."

Thanks Tim. Agreed, he's a wonderful character. The subtle way he manipulates his mark is brilliant.

This is awesome. I'll bet I reference it at least once a day. No kidding.

GGR character I wanna be? Blake. GGR character I probably am? Dave Moss :(

I hear you, Jackie. The characters represent specific sides of people, I think. I'm probably more Shelly than any one else :)
