Just lighting a candle here. Supposedly, they're going to release "The Black Freighter" as a stand alone animation on dvd in coordination with the movie. It has been suggested that if all goes well, they will combine the two for what will probably be a five hour film when Watchmen comes out on DVD in the fall.
Nobody has even suggested there would be a sequel, though I have often wondered if Alan Moore hasn't considered writing one. The book has an open-ending to it. I just finished re-reading the comic and thought it would be interesting to see what that world would look like after twenty or twenty five years.
Just an idle speculation since Moore famously does that with his League of Extraordinary Gentlemen books, which essentially delves into the continuing lives of literary figures.
One day, not too long ago, I tried to type in your blog's Web site address, since I enjoy your thoughtful, witty, frequent and relevant posts, but a Bible site came up. I couldn't figure out what went wrong and thought someone hijacked your blog somehow. I kept reading the address over and over to figure it out and just now realized I interchanged the "s" and "p" in "spot" and therefore accidentally typed "psot." http://www.thefilmgeek.blogpsot.com/ Have you seen this? TFG, do you think there is a religious conspiracy going on? I mean, why would someone choose that particular address? (I'm posting anonymously just in case it is a conspiracy!)
Hey Holywriter and Bill: I doubt a delay, really. I'm guessing it's more about hype than anything else. And I read recently the movie, as is, is coming in at 3 hours. I think the DVD idea is a terrific idea to ensure important content is included.
Anonymous: Naw, it ain't a conspiracy. My little ol' blog doesn't get the traffic to merit a conspiracy. It's just me and a couple dozen folks sitting around talking about my time on the chicken farm. Just to be safe, though, I'd bookmark the site though. No use in tempting fate.
There's a conspiracy going on alright- the fact that Hollywood won't let people enjoy some Truth that can only come from DC Comics tells us that something is going on here.
They didn't seem to have no problem releasing Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk.

I guess that no one will watch The Watchmen, then...

Not sure how I completely missed this post!
That's a cool picture. Here's hoping the movie will be coming out soon!
