Spike Nesmith and Paul Higginbotham were, several years ago, the best talk team in Charleston's radio scene. They're reaching their stride again with this weekly podcast on Radio Six International.
When Nesmith's dad, Old Spike, stops by with a bottle of spirits, the trio really rock.
Spike and Paul have changed the title of the podcast a couple or more times this year, which is evidence enough for me to know they need my help! So, here is: My Top 5: Show Titles Paul And Spike Should Consider:
1. "Paul, Spike & Old Spike: The Sound You Hear Is Ice Clanking In My Bourbon, But Don't Call Me Shirley."
2. "The Paul & Spike Show: It's Not An AA Meeting...Yet!"3. "The Paul & Some Guy Pretending To Be Scottish Show"
4. "Paul & Spike: We Don't Need No Stinkin' Scripts!"
5. "Paul & Spike: Radio Six International Never Met 'Em Before The Hire."

Thanks for the promo, TFG!
I'm a bit partial to #2 on your list.
Sure! The show(s) really kept me company this week, as I listened while doing lots of writing. It kept me energized.
Speaking of: there is one segment in the most recent show, during a talk about FDR, where it sounds as if Old Spike slipped off into a nap. Made me chuckle.
I was probably just boring him.
=D
There's more truth to #5 than you probably realise!
Radio Six International is run by a cove called Tony Currie, who is something of a deity in Scottish media, and is a voice I grew up with. He used to do what we call 'continuity' on Scottish TV, as heard on this lengthy startup clip, circa 1977. He's at 4:14, doing the legal ID.

But true to the suggested title, I've never actually met him in real life!
My first thought when I read this post was "Wow, how sad that these two just can't let go of the past."
Then I remembered that last week I dropped a hundy on a skateboard deck I used to ride when I was seventeen. That's a one and a seven.
So now my second thought about this post is...."Give 'em hell you crazy kids!"
I'm glad you are coming around, Jackie. Those guys have it going on!
A hundred? Damn, man...that's some nostalgia.
If by "coming around" you mean I'm gonna listen to a couple of never-was-es try to be hip and clever...then you're waaay off base.
I just said I understand why people cling to certain times of lives with a frantic desperation. I never said I was gonna listen.
