School is out, meaning the kids can get out and see a film with their geeky Dad on a weeknight. This week, we made it to
Over The Hedge. The reviews were mixed:
Jaden (age 3): "
The bear had balloons! I want balloons too!"Griffyn (age 5): "
The squirrel was my favorite, he was really funny."
Maddisen (age 10): "
Are we getting ice cream after the kid's movie?"Dad: (age
41): "The dialogue was clever, the animation was average and the political message of the movie was appropriately subtle. And we are getting ice cream."

I just got back from seeing that movie with the wife. First we had to fight our way through about 50 kids (seemed more like 500) for the premier of "Cars". At least one of the kids was having a birthday party too from the overheard conversation. We were safe in "Over the Hedge" as all of the kids were on the other side of the movie complex.
We thought that "Hedge" was very funny and well done. There were just several moments where they lined of for just a perfect delivery of a punchline and to my surprise I found that I was laughing out loud throughout (I don't usually do that).
What a contrast from that awful "The Breakup" that we went to see at this time last weekend. Avoid that film...it is NOT a romantic comedy as it is neither romantic nor funny!
I liked the movie a lot too. That scene of the squirrel waving as he was about to crash the truck into the house made me laugh for 5 minutes.
Excellent! Between this and Cars I can meet my "two movies a year" quota for the younglings.
BTW- three kids?!?!!?! You've got me beat...
Yep, three...ANd sometimes they have ME beat.
I'll be seeing cars next weekend, I think. Let me know how you liked it.
I loved Cars.
Why didn't Jaden get any balloons? Maddisen got ice cream.
It was a family trip. They all got the ice cream.
