A Random Listing Of Things I Learned On WV Day

Having WV Day off from work always feels weird to me. It doesn't seem like a holiday to celebrate, and it often occurs in mid-week, which causes problems with travel. So, I usually spend the day cleaning up around the house, or goofing with the kids.

On occasion, WV Day provides educational opportunities for me. A list of things I learned today includes:

1. Marie Osmond has her own line of lifelike dolls, which she sells on one of the home shopping channels;

2. If you are out of Draino and need to unclog a slow-draining bathtub, a wire clothes hanger snapped in two can be used to dig out the handfuls of hair;

3. Sesame Street is still relevant, even today;

4.Little kids love colorful stickers, and behave well to get them;

5. So far, The View sucks without Meredith Viera;

6. Little kids eventually lose their excitement over getting stickers for good behavior;

7.Although it seems like a good idea, you really can't re-use a wet Swiffer pad;

8. The mail does run on WV Day;

9. Chef Boyardee Ravioli still tastes the same as it did 30 years ago;

10. Avoiding a shower and a shave makes me feel sneaky, as if I'm getting away with not doing something that is otherwise pretty important.

Are you sure avoiding a shower and shave don't make you feel stinky instead?

Hey, I knew that something about this date seemed familiar. Funny, but they don't celebrate WV Day in Ohio for some reason. For that matter, I don't recall having an Ohio Day anytime in the last several years either. I wish we did though, it would be another good day off. Actually, we could technically get two days off because of a SNAFU in Ohio's admission to the Union.

2. If you are out of Draino...

Go to Lowes and get a Zip Strip. The greatest invention since...okay, the best invention ever.

9. Chef Boyardee Ravioli still tastes the same as it did 30 years ago...

Yeah, and I would bet that if you found a thirty year-old can of it it probably wouldn't taste any different from a fresh can!

Zip Strip...got it. That'll save me some hangers, for sure.

The View sucked with Meredith...

I was going to ask if "The View" sucked any less with Meredith but decided that I was already picking on Geek in his other post and would leave his poor tv viewing habits alone. I've watched that show maybe three times and don't know why anybody would intentionally tune into it. Yech!

BTW, name change...blame 2-sexy-4-you.

Hey Jedi...funny about The View. Here is part of a post I did in Aril:

I catch a lot of grief from my testosterone-charged buddies about how much I enjoy The View. I love the show. Star Jones is fun to hate, Joy Baher is a hoot and that former Survivor chick is cute and perky. But, I had such a crush on Meredith...She is smart and attractive and has great hair. Sigh...

Oh, well that explains it a little better. Why didn't you just say you were watching it out of lechery? I'm totally down with that! I'll even watch the "Today Show" for more than 2 minutes if Campbell Brown is anchoring.

BTW, like the new userid? I thought it was a bit less clever and a little more absurdly ironic.

I remember that! Took me a week to get that crap off my hands.

Jedi: absurdly ironic is the best kind of irony!
