Film Scenes That Matter: Unforgiven

Sometimes, violence happens simply because it has to.

Clint Eastwood's aging killer no longer has the stomach for violence, until he has to. And then, he carries it out in a way that's thorough, and complete.

And for Ned.

Unforgiven is complex and multi-layered, yet beautiful for it's simplicity.

Have you seen "Once Were Warriors" dir. by Lee Tamahori? It's got one of the most delicious and warranted scene of violence I've ever witnessed.

Oh, and is it wrong that I just watched this clip with my 21 month old daughter? LOL.

Hey Evil Twin's Wife! First and most importantly: Yes, it is wrong! But, there will be no lasting effects, or any serious damage. When she is 20 or so, she'll simply say: "Mom, do you remember some old guy coming to our house once, and shooting the place up?" :)

I'll check out the film you mention. Not heard of it yet.

Unforgiven is about the best example I can think of to illustrate the old adage about letting sleeping dogs lie. What a great film!
