Pump Up The Volume (which I contend was a harbinger to the current influence of political and social blogging in America) and True Romance (the scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper rocks!) showed the guy had chops.
Since the mid-90s, though, Christian Slater's been mostly working for the paycheck.
- Voice work and animation
- Movie sequels no one else wants to do
- One-shot guest star on sit-com
- Leads in movies no-body's heard of
The sad result of studio executives trying to morph Slater into the next Jack Nicholson.

He is due a Downy, Jr.-esque comeback.
Maybe Patrick Dempsey can get him on "Private Practice" even.
Maybe he could have his own sitcom?
I like the Downy, Jr idea. Maybe he could be ant-man.
I love me some "Heathers" and "True Romance". "Gleaming the Cube"? Not so much :D
And just so yall know...Hank Pym also becomes "Giant Man" in "Ultimate Avengers", so give the guy a break. AND he's married to hot-ass Wasp ;)
He also an opportunist and coward who beats his wife in Ultimate Avengers --an elaboration of the bad marriage the two had in the mainstream version. It could be an interesting movie, if they left his warts.
I'm all for being true to the comic -which is why I won't go watch the comic abortion that is "Wanted."
At least he didn't bite her head off so that he could eat the rest of Black Panther.
Did you see the Huntington blogger meet-up Maura posted about on my blog? It said 11:00 today (Saturday) at Java Joint, but on her site it says 11:00 today at Flapjacks. I'm going. If it's not in one it will be in the other I guess. She said all are welcomed. Just passing the word (albeitly very late).
Thanks, Buzzardbilly! I'm not going to be able to attend today, but I'm hopeful they continue so I can in the future.
Christian Slater will be starring in a new TV series this fall. Also, I hear 'The Deal' - about high gas prices & big business - isn't too bad. He's done some work on stage too, still gets some respect in England :)
I loved Christian Slater and miss his talent on the screen. He is definitely overdue on the comeback.
Not sure whether is an Agent problem, lack of decent roles offered, or maybe he's retired...I don't know but, he needs to get back in before public has completely forgotten him. I think his best bet is to take on a role as an evil dude. I mean serial killer type role, or some character like the Joker from Batman. Not suggesting the Joker but, an excellent script with a great director should be the ticket to reprise his career! I'm looking forward to it! Anyone else got a better idea?
