45 years, and 500 issues.
Damn..., where did the time go? I remember reading issues in the double digits under the pine tree in back of my house.
Happy birthday, today, X-Men. Penny for penny, you may have been the best entertainment value I ever had.

An alleged scene from the upcoming Wolverine movie has Wolverine facing off against Sabretooth and uttering the words, "I'm going to cut your God damned head off. See if that works."
It's a good time to be a comic fan.
Indeed it is. Terrific writing, great acting and an audience to boot. Been waiting for this for 35 years.
For years now, I've had to fight off the temptation to read X-Men comic books and watch the shows. Somehow (perhaps through an interdimensional shift) I've ended up with all three movies and the entire series of X-Men the Animated Series. It may have even been placed there by a shape-shifter who sits in the back room and watches them once or twice a week when I'm out trying to convert people into followers of Woman Woman.
I will say this for blasphemous Marvel heresy- its entertainment value makes it very hard to avoid for those of us who follow the path that leads to the Hall of Justice. No wonder they have taken over England and have become the fastest growing comic book in the world.
Amen, Reverend. And I'll say a Hail Batman for you, so that the Matrian Manhunter will forgive you as he has forgiven me.
I'm right there w/ the Rev. As a recent DC convert, it was hard for me at first to accept the DC heroes and villians, mainly because X-Men pretty much set the bar so high. But I've come to accept Toyman, Huntress, and Lex for what they are, not for what they aren't, which is Sabretooth, Rogue, and Apocalypse.
