It Makes My Ears Bleed!

A return to one of my favorite posts, from last year:

One of the most annoying aspects of this time of year for me is hearing people say "Valentymes" rather than "Valentines" Day. I hear it everywhere, and people from every walk of life seem to lapse into saying it during moments of excitability.

"WhatchagonnagetyourwifeforValentymes?
Huh? What? Youcantellme, c'mon!

Tell me, whatyougettin'forValentymes?."

The only consoling factor for me is that this annoyance ends on February 15th. Unlike my year-long struggle with people from Putnam County, WV, who regularly pronounce their county "Putman." It makes me want to drive a stake through their hearts.

Hearts.

I love it when two different rants find common ground.

this is akin to my aversion for people asking me if we serve expresso drinks, who then give me a perplexed look when i say all our drinks come at regular speed. sigh.

Only more annoying than "Valentymes" to me is that way that folks from my homestate of Indiana say "ideal" for "idea:" as in, "that's a good ideal." And it last's all year.

I like the "me" in "Valentymes."

Supposably a lot of people from Sissonsville and Big Chimley pronounce it "Valentymes," irregardless of the correct pronunciation.

Has anyone entertained the thought that maybe "valentymes" is right, and that *we've* been saying it wrong all these years?

Someone should check that out at the libery - preferably before next febury.

I agree with both. Also, please add pitcher. As in "that's a nice pitcher of you". aaaggghhh. -Cara
