Top 3 Most Memorable Movie Songs

Quick~

Name your top three most memorable movie songs. Songs that, when played on the radio, still make you remember vivid scenes from a specific movie, or feel that emotion you felt once while eating popcorn in the dark.

My top three, in no order of importance:

Staying Alive, from Saturday Night Fever. The camera pans up from the sidewalk, the strut, the 70s Mod Squad clothes. Sigh...

Streets of Philadelphia, from Philadelphia. In my opinion, the song helped change how a generation looks at (and thus treats) a terrible disease.

In Your Eyes, from Say Anything. Simply, to know Lloyd Dobler is to love him.

Yours?

Miserlou from Pulp Fiction. The song bursts over the opening credits. Perfect.

The theme from The Natural. It plays when Roy Hobbs hits the home run. I don't know the title, but I love it.

Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears from Donnie Darko. This song captures the essence of this film.

I loved everything about Donnie Darko and Pulp Fiction. The songs did help drive those films. Didn't see The Natural. Bummer...

From my friend Steve, in Iowa:
The Little Mermaid has to have one of the most stirring theme songs for a movie. Don’t want cartoons? Does Pink Floyd’s The Wall count? Nothing like self absorbed, rich drug addicted rock and roll stars complaining about how tough they had it. Was it Simple Minds who sang at the start of Breakfast Club (Don’t you forget about me)? Looking for something more mature? The theme behind Dances with Wolves might take the classical tune. Best female impersonator – Prince or the artist formerly known as Prince, or the artist formerly known as prince aka Prince) singing Purple Rain in the movie with the same title. Then again who could ever forget the Crying Game (reminds me of the montage a few weeks ago on American Idol). If you need an action flick, then how about McCartney and Wings singing Live and Let Die for James. Best “could have been” theme song – try Warren Zevon singing Werewolves to American Werewolf in London.
