Cause I Ain't That Easy To Live With

15 years.

I'm sure it's supposed to be diamonds or wood or something equally cool in anniversary tokens. But, I have no idea what to get Mrs. Film Geek for our fifteenth wedding anniversary.

15 years.

The woman has put up with a lot. Once, she baked me a beautiful birthday cake from scratch. But, I was too depressed about getting old, and refused to get out of bed. All day. Not once, except to go to the bathroom. Until my friend John called to ask me out for a birthday drink at 10:00pm.

Somehow I found the energy to hit the bar.

I seem to struggle with social situations, which has probably cost us at least a couple of friends. Someone close to me once described me as: "Charming...But in a serial killer sorta way."

Yep. Mrs. Film Geek is a lucky bride.

So, number fifteen is coming up on the 19th, and I'm clueless about what to do. I freeze on all holidays and special events.
I'm just not that romantic.

Any suggestions? (Besides office supplies, I mean.)

Did this "John" fellow discuss anything that would be a faux pas in "mixed" company?

Is he a short guy? Always smiling, and talks with his hands....A LOT....when he's excited?

Don't know him at all...

Seriously though, you need to make it something really good. Quit telling her, "Hey, I was thinking about getting you _______ today....but I wasn't able to."

Get her everything you've told her you've been thinking about getting her in the last few weeks.....put them in different places in the house with a little note, saying "Hey, remember this?" or something to that effect.

...Then have a diamond, or wood...or something like that.

Ok...I had to check on this and "crystal" is traditional for the fifteenth wedding anniversary. I was going to suggest a nice dinner, but I'm not good at advising on these things. So I'd go with what Offroute said.

75: Not the same John. But, pretty similar guys, really.

Hoyt: Crystal, eh? Hmmmm....

Good ideas, guys. As if I can pull that stuff off.

Do you want to give me the money and I'll go pick it out?

After the letter opener several years ago and office supplies last year, this girl deserves jewelry! Good jewelry! Big jewelry!

Skip the crystal. Take a look around the house, unless you see crystal candy dishes and you drink out of your crystal glasses that you got for your wedding at least once a week, go for the jewelry...and not a paper clip necklace.

This calls for something special.

"I've got two words for you: Lions. Den. "

That is freakin' hilarious!

Bingo! We have a winner.

(Wonder if the Lions Den has anything diamond studed...)

And your right, Scarlet. We ain't the crystal kind...that stuff might get shattered out by our cee-ment pond.

I hear the "swings" at the Den are nice.

I wouldn't know anything about that, however.

Okay, Off Route 75's first comment rocked. He needs to call my husband and tell him a thing or two.

Lion's Den? Diamond studded whip. That'll be perfect!

There is always a pink, shiny, purse with crystals from Inspired. I highly recommend it!

Anniversaries are wonderful. It is a day for the couple to set aside time, and the key word here is time, for each other. I do not believe it really is about gifts, it is about being together, no kids, no phone, no TV just the two of you. Rekindle what has been lost and reconnect. Yes, being a female we do like gifts who doesn't but what I like most more than anything is just being with my honey....nothing is better. In todays society life is so hectic, both partners in the marriage, work, have obligations outside the marriage, run with the kids, everyone needs time to reconnect and that is what your anniversary is for. Use this day, to do just that reconnect and you will find you will learn alot about your spouse.

Thanks Anonymous. And you are right. As soon as we get back from the Lion's Den, we're gonna do just that.
